Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has invited Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to attend the Gaza Reconstruction Conference in Egypt, as part of joint efforts to strengthen international support for the recovery of Gaza.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar said the invitation was conveyed by El-Sisi during a phone conversation today. Anwar shared that during the conversation, El-Sisi briefed him on the latest developments regarding the Gaza peace plan. President El-Sisi highlighted that current efforts are focused on identifying and retrieving the remains of Israeli hostages from Gaza to prevent any delay or obstruction to the peace process being pursued by the Zionist regime.
Further details were shared by El-Sisi about the second phase of the plan, which includes the reconstruction of Gaza, the importance of safeguarding the West Bank, and the implementation of the United Nations resolution on the establishment of an International Stabilisation Force. These steps aim to promote stability and support the overall recovery efforts in the region.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that El-Sisi expressed hope that US President Donald Trump's visit to Malaysia in conjunction with next week's ASEAN Summit would yield positive outcomes, given his crucial role in ensuring lasting peace in Gaza. Anwar emphasized the shared view on the necessity to continue safeguarding peace, strengthening humanitarian efforts, and coordinating aid missions for the Palestinian people who are enduring prolonged suffering.
