AMPANG: The police have arrested eight individuals, including a woman, suspected of involvement in an office break-in in Ampang, Selangor, which resulted in losses amounting to RM150,000. The arrests were made following a series of raids across the Klang Valley from December 17 to December 19.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail stated that the suspects, aged between 17 and 41, were apprehended after the police received a report from a 36-year-old company director. The report detailed that the office had been forcibly entered, with the door knob pried open. The director discovered that various items, including a laptop, mobile phone, camera, helmet, RM90,000 in cash, and an unspecified amount of foreign currency, were missing, resulting in total losses of approximately RM150,000.
The police raids led to the arrest of all suspects and the seizure of multiple mobile phones, laptops, helmets, machines, foreign currency, and a motorcycle. Preliminary investigations suggest that the group has been active for the past three months, targeting premises and vehicles parked outside homes, primarily committing these crimes in the early morning hours.
The group is allegedly linked to four office break-ins, theft, and car theft in the Klang Valley. Authorities revealed that seven of the individuals have between two to 24 previous criminal and drug-related offenses and are wanted by the police. Currently, five of the suspects have been released on police bail, while the remaining three have been remanded until January 6 to facilitate investigations under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
