Elderly Man Arrested for Allegedly Setting Second Wife’s House Ablaze

Setiu: A man, aged 79, was taken into custody after allegedly setting his second wife's house on fire in Kampung Langkap Baru earlier today. The incident occurred in the early hours, prompting a swift response from local authorities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Setiu district police chief Supt Mohd Zain Mat Dris reported that the arrest took place at the Chabang Tiga police station in Kuala Terengganu around 4.11 am. The suspect was identified after being seen by his stepson, who witnessed him throwing an object at the house around 1 am.

The stepson also observed the suspect entering the residence through the kitchen window, which subsequently caught fire. Fortunately, the stepson was unharmed during the incident. Authorities have taken immediate action, remanding the suspect for four days to facilitate further investigation under Section 435 of the Penal Code.
