Kota kinabalu: Electricity supply in several areas on the East Coast of Sabah has been restored in stages since yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sabah Electricity, in an official Facebook post, stated that electricity supply to Kunak and several areas in Lahad Datu has been restored, as well as in Semporna, including the Buraq Oil Pump Station, Kampung Sri Melor, and its surrounding areas.
Electricity supply in Tawau, specifically in Jalan Kampung Tinagat, Kampung Batu Payung, QL Farm, Jalan Apas Parit, Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Payung, Sekolah Kebangsaan Kinabutan Besar, and its surrounding areas has also been restored. Yesterday, it was reported that a power outage occurred in several districts on the East Coast of Sabah following a disruption in the 275KV Kolopis-Segaliud transmission line involving line 1 and line 2 at 5.05 pm.
Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd, in an official Facebook post, mentioned the areas affected by the power supply disruption were Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Kunak, Semporna, Beluran, and Tawau. A Bernama survey at 7 am found that the power supply in some areas in Tawau has yet to be restored.
Meanwhile, Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong Shir Yee, in a Facebook post, noted that several areas in Sandakan were experiencing power outages of up to 13 hours. Bernama's survey also found that internet lines in areas with power outages were also affected, resulting in slower internet speeds.
