EPIC OG and Begas Energy Join Forces for Sabah Terminal Project

Kuala lumpur: Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Bhd (EPIC), a company affiliated with the Terengganu government, has entered into a strategic partnership with Begas Energy Sdn Bhd, based in Sabah, through its subsidiary, EPIC OG Sdn Bhd. EPIC revealed in a statement that this collaboration aims to provide project management services related to the Terminal Turnaround, Maintenance, and Modification (TTAMM) contracts in Sabah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the agreement, signed at a ceremony today, fortifies EPIC's presence in the downstream and terminal services sector, especially in East Malaysia. The partnership will have EPIC OG jointly manage project operations, including technical advisory services for planned shutdowns, routine and preventive maintenance, and terminal modifications.

The scope of services is crafted to maintain asset integrity and enhance operational reliability, adhering to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in health, safety, and environmental aspects. At the signing ceremony, EPIC OG was represented by EPIC Bhd's group chief executive officer, Dr. Muhtar Suhaili, and EPIC Bhd's general manager for energies, Mohamad Irwan Abdul. Representing Begas Energy were managing director Mohd Safian Saludin and operations manager Shahlan Rusian. The exchange of documents was overseen by EPIC OG chairman Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh and other board members.

Muhtar stated that the strategic collaboration underscores the group's commitment to providing integrated solutions throughout the oil and gas value chain. He emphasized the partnership's role in enhancing EPIC's project management capabilities, particularly in executing complex scheduled shutdowns and maintenance activities. Through this collaboration, EPIC reaffirms its dedication to operational excellence, disciplined execution, and rigorous safety standards in supporting vital energy infrastructure.

Mukhtar also noted that the integration of EPIC OG's project management expertise and Begas Energy's operational capabilities is expected to ensure a structured, efficient, and high-quality execution of the TTAMM contract. The collaboration not only aims for effective project delivery but also aligns with EPIC's long-term strategy to expand its role in terminal operations and maintenance services. Additionally, the initiative is anticipated to bolster the sustainability and resilience of Sabah's energy sector and the broader national oil and gas industry.
