Penampang: Youths are urged to actively participate in various programmes and initiatives in conjunction with National Month, including efforts to celebrate independence through activities that lead to economic progress, mental development, and cooperation. Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick emphasized the significant responsibility of the younger generation to continue the legacy of independence inherited from previous generations, as they are now enjoying the fruits of national development.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ewon highlighted the essential role of youth in continuing the legacy of independence through activities that promote economic progress, mental development, and cooperation among youth from different tribes, ethnicities, religions, and cultures. He stressed the importance of National Month celebrations in instilling the values left by the country's founding fathers so that when these youth grow up, they can pass it on to the next generation. Ewon also elaborated on the significance of comprehensive involvement in programmes like the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG), which includes participation from various societal levels, such as Tamu Donggongon traders and business premise owners.
