Fadillah Urges Malaysian Students in China to Embrace Local Values

Kuala lumpur: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof advised Malaysians in China, especially students, to emulate the positive values of the Chinese people to be adopted upon their return to Malaysia. He urged Malaysian students in China to capitalize on their time studying there by learning from the hardworking spirit and learning methods of the Chinese people. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah highlighted China's development, achieved through dedication and hard work, as a model for Malaysians. He made these remarks during a dinner and gathering with the Malaysian diaspora in Beijing, organized by the Malaysian Embassy in China, which saw the attendance of nearly 200 Malaysians. The event also featured the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Ruziah Mohd Tahir, and the Malaysian Ambassador to China, Datuk Norman Muhamad. Fadillah encouraged Malaysian students in China to promote Malaysia's culture and values, aiming to become sources of national pride. He noted that t he number of Malaysian students in China has reached 6,000, with 1,600 based in Beijing. He expressed hope that this would lead to more experts in various fields in Malaysia, contributing to the country's growth and development. During the event, Fadillah engaged in a Q and A session, collecting suggestions from attendees. He emphasized the current strength of the China-Malaysia relationship, marked by several high-level visits between the two nations this year. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's visit to China earlier this month and President Xi Jinping's visit to Malaysia in April were highlighted, along with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang's visit to Malaysia in June last year. Fadillah's official visit to China, from Sept 16 to Sept 23, is at the invitation of the Chinese government. Prior to Beijing, he visited Nanning and delivered a speech at the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) on Sept 17, followed by a visit to Chongqing on Sept 19. China has remained Malaysia's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years, with bilateral trade reaching US$106.4 billion (RM444.15 billion) in 2024.
