Fahmi To Cover Relocation Costs For 14 Families Affected By Pantai Dalam Fire

Kuala lumpur: Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Datuk Fahmi Fadzil will bear the relocation costs of 14 families affected by the recent fire in Pantai Dalam to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) People's Housing Project (PPR) units as temporary accommodation. Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, said the matter had been discussed with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif, with all requirements already approved.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi visited the families involved, who are currently placed in a temporary relief centre. The Federal Territories Minister and the Kuala Lumpur Mayor have approved the relocation of the eligible families to transit homes. Fahmi noted that his office had received contributions from TNB to assist the affected families.

Fahmi stated that DBKL will help cover the first six months' rent for the victims. His office will continue to communicate with the families to ensure they know how to obtain the keys for their new accommodations. Any deposits imposed by DBKL will be covered by Fahmi, ensuring that the families will not have to pay anything initially.

The fire on August 8 destroyed 14 squatter houses and four shop premises, including Mydin Mart and Pasaraya Karnival. Fahmi expressed hope that the families can rebuild their lives in a more stable environment and encouraged thoughts and prayers for their resilience and recovery.
