Kuala lumpur: Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has reminded the public to exercise greater caution when using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to produce content related to the Jalur Gemilang to ensure that the design and elements of the national flag are displayed accurately. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Jalur Gemilang's design, particularly its 14 stripes, which are key features of the flag.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi highlighted the need for content creators to ensure that AI-generated content does not result in inaccuracies or errors, especially regarding the stripes on the Jalur Gemilang. He also encouraged the public to learn the proper etiquette for displaying the flag as part of the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign. Fahmi announced a collaboration with the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) and the Malaysian Media Council to engage media organizations and ensure accurate representation of the Jalur Gemilang during National Month, particularly for AI-generated content.
Fahmi made these comments following the launch of the 2026 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign (MPBKKJG 2026), which was held in conjunction with the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations at the Sultan Azlan Shah Ministry of Health Training Institute (ILKKM SAS) in Tanjung Rambutan. The event was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and attended by National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
When questioned about actions to be taken if errors occur in AI-generated content or the display of the Jalur Gemilang, Fahmi stated that the ministry would initially adopt an advisory approach. They would contact those involved to make necessary corrections. Although specific laws govern such matters, the first step would be to advise the parties involved to rectify mistakes. If errors remain uncorrected, further action may be considered.
Regarding the HKHM 2026 celebrations, Fahmi encouraged Malaysians to fly the Jalur Gemilang from today until at least September 16 as part of the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign. This initiative aims to foster a spirit of patriotism in residential areas, villages, and government premises. He added that this year's National Day celebration would take place in Putrajaya, while Malaysia Day would be celebrated in Sarawak, with the exact venue still under discussion.
