Fahmi Working To Secure Temporary Housing For Pantai Dalam PPR Fire Victims

Kuala lumpur: Lembah Pantai MP Datuk Fahmi Fadzil is working to secure temporary housing for victims of a recent fire at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) owned People's Housing Project.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Communications Minister discussed the matter with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Kuala Lumpur mayor, Datuk Seri Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif last Saturday. There are 14 families currently at the relief centre, while several other families have opted to stay with relatives. Efforts are being made to relocate them to more comfortable accommodations.

Fahmi stated that he has not yet received the latest updates but emphasized that for families with schoolgoing children, collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council is underway to provide necessary equipment and uniforms. He shared these details with the media after attending the Daughter of Penang, Daughter of Palestine programme at The Chow Kit Hotel, an event also attended by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim.

The fire, which occurred on the night of August 8, destroyed fourteen squatter houses and four shop premises. The victims are currently residing at the relief centre located at Sekolah Rendah Agama Al-Khawarizmi.
