Failure To Cope With Pressure, Simple Mistakes Cost TFC FA Cup Quarter-final Spot

Kuala terengganu: Failure to withstand the pressure from their opponents, coupled with simple mistakes, cost Terengganu FC (TFC) a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals this season. In the second-leg round of 16 match at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA) last night, TFC were knocked out of the FA Cup after losing 5-4 on aggregate to DPMM FC. According to BERNAMA News Agency, head coach Mohd Nafuzi Zain admitted he was disappointed that his side failed to progress but refused to blame his players, who he said had given their all throughout the 90 minutes. "Overall, I think we played well and created plenty of chances to score. However, our own mistakes allowed DPMM to capitalise and score. I am quite disappointed that we did not make it to the quarter-finals. But the players fought hard and gave their best tonight. I think we played well, but defensively we failed to withstand the pressure, conceding two goals within 10 minutes," he said after the match. Meanwhile, DPMM FC head coach Jamie McAllist er said his side deserved the victory after putting in a strong and energetic display throughout the match. He said the win was even more significant as his players had bounced back to win away from home after suffering a narrow defeat in the first leg at home on Sept 9. "I think we fully deserved the win. Terengganu have real quality players, but we came with the belief that we could keep going and get through to the next round. I am really proud of the players. It is an amazing achievement to get to the next round because it is not easy to win here," he said. McAllister added that despite having many new faces in the squad this season, the players had shown rapid and steady improvement.
