Fair weather continues; danger level heat index forecast in 44 areas

MANILA: Generally fair weather will continue to prevail across the country due to the easterlies, the weather bureau said Wednesday.

The easterlies could also cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

It added that severe thunderstorms could result in flash floods or landslides.

The heat index could peak at 46 degrees in Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; Roxas City, Capiz; Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

Heat indices of 42 to 45 degrees are also forecast in the following areas:

Science Garden, Quezon City, Metro Manila

Laoag City, Ilocos Norte

Dagupan City, Pangasinan

Aparri, Cagayan

Sangley Point, Cavite

Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas

Iloilo City, Iloilo

Bacnotan, La Union

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan

ISU, Echague, Isabela

Iba, Zambales

San Jose, Occidental Mindoro

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan

Aborlan, Palawan

Under danger level or 41°C to 51°C heat indices, heat cramps, and heat exhaustion are likely.

Continued exposure could also cause heat stroke.

Meanwhile, the whole archipelago will continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said.
