Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), through the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), today announced a comprehensive Supply and Marketing Intervention Plan for agricultural produce to address the impact of the global energy crisis. Under the plan, FAMA will strengthen the Agro MADANI Sale (JAM) programme by expanding the 'Jimat Dapur Rakyat' initiative, targeting 2,399 sessions nationwide from April to September this year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the plan will be implemented in phases, with Phase 1 from April to May involving 872 sessions, followed by Phase 2 from June to September with 1,527 sessions. The programme will also be conducted continuously at FAMA-run premises, including FAMA Agrobazaar, FAMA Operation Centres, and other strategic locations. Through the Jualan Kombo MADANI and related promotional sales, target groups will enjoy discounts of between 10 and 30 per cent compared to local market prices.
The initiative aims to help cushion consumers from rising living costs. FAMA stated that the move is in line with the MADANI government's efforts to ensure a stable food supply chain and continued access to essential goods at affordable prices nationwide. FAMA remains committed to facilitating close collaboration with producers, wholesalers, and retailers to safeguard national food security.
The agency further added that the effort supports the MADANI government's goal of building a more resilient food system to withstand future global crises.
