Family Of Three Among Seven Charged With Wrongful Confinement In Pasir Puteh

Kuala lumpur: Seven individuals, including a family of three, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court here today to charges of wrongfully confining three men in Pasir Puteh last month.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the accused include Hazafee Mohamed and Mohd Hasrun Mohd Yusof, both aged 37, Mohd Fairuz Mahasan, 41, Muhammad Najmuddin Ahmad Zamri, 21, Norhazri Muhammad Nor, 45, and his two sons, Muhammad Danish Syahmi, 22, and Muhammad Darwish Syahmi, 20. They all entered their pleas before Magistrate Amirul Asyraf Abdul Rasid.

The group was jointly charged with the wrongful confinement of three men, aged between 23 and 30, at a house in Jalan Pantai Bisikan Bayu, Cherang Ruku, Pasir Puteh, around 4 am on September 25. Additionally, Yang Marliziana Mohd Ramli, 37, faced charges of abetting the wrongful confinement and concealing information related to the offense, allegedly committed at the Pasar Peringat bus stop at about 4 pm the same day.

The charges were brought under Section 347 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34, while Marliziana faced charges under Section 109 of the Penal Code. If found guilty, the accused could face a maximum prison sentence of three years, a fine, or both.

Magistrate Amirul Asyraf denied bail for four of the accused, namely Norhazri, Hazafee, Mohd Hasrun, and Mohd Fairuz. However, bail was granted for Muhammad Najmuddin, Muhammad Danish Syahmi, and Muhammad Darwish Syahmi at RM5,000 each, and for Marliziana at RM4,000, each with one surety. The court has set November 30 for case mention and document submission.

Meanwhile, in a separate hearing at the Kota Bharu Sessions Court, the same four accused, Norhazri, Hazafee, Mohd Hasrun and Mohd Fairuz, also pleaded not guilty to charges of committing armed robbery against the same victims. They appeared before Judge Zulkifli Abdullah claiming trial.

The charges related to this incident involve the accused allegedly committing the offense and displaying a .38 S and W revolver, causing fear of death to the victims, under a bridge in Gong Kulim, Pasir Puteh, at about 4.35 pm on September 25. The charge falls under Section 4 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, which carries a maximum sentence of 40 years' imprisonment and at least six strokes of the cane if convicted.

The court denied bail for all four accused and set November 9 for mention and document submission.
