FatHopes Energy Partners with PVOIL to Launch Vietnam’s First Used Cooking Oil Collection System

Ho chi minh city: FatHopes Energy Sdn Bhd has entered into a strategic partnership with PetroVietnam Oil (PVOIL) to establish Vietnam's first nationwide used cooking oil collection ecosystem, marking a milestone for Southeast Asia's clean energy transition. FatHopes Energy is a Malaysian pioneer in traceable waste-based feedstock solutions for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, FatHopes Energy announced that the collaboration with PVOIL will create an integrated system capable of collecting, tracing, and managing used cooking oil throughout Vietnam. This initiative aims to develop a circular economy, transforming used cooking oil from various sources, including households, restaurants, and industrial kitchens, into certified renewable feedstock for SAF and other advanced biofuels.

The collaboration is anticipated to accelerate Vietnam's shift towards cleaner energy by leveraging FatHopes Energy's expertise in used cooking oil collection operations, digital traceability technologies, and global feedstock supply chain development. This will be combined with PVOIL's extensive operational network, which includes about 1,000 petrol stations to be used as collection points for used cooking oil as part of a nationwide collection system.

The initiative will begin with an initial rollout in Ho Chi Minh City and will progressively expand across the country. The partnership is expected to facilitate the aggregation of more than 200,000 tonnes of feedstock annually in Vietnam for export to FatHopes Energy's upcoming refinery in Malaysia, as stated by the company's public relations officer.
