FBM KLCI Futures Close Lower Despite Positive Cash Market Performance

Kuala Lumpur: The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower today, contrary to the positive performance observed in the underlying cash market.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, at the close of the trading session, the spot month June 2025 futures contract fell by four points to end at 1,518.0. Similarly, the July 2025 contract decreased by 3.5 points to 1,516.5, the September 2025 contract dropped 4.5 points to 1,498.0, and the December 2025 contract declined by 5.5 points to 1,502.5.

Furthermore, the trading volume saw a decrease, with turnover dropping to 3,315 lots compared to 5,006 lots recorded on the previous day, Wednesday. Open interest also experienced a decline, falling to 38,142 contracts from the previous 39,630 contracts.

By the end of the trading day at 5 pm, the FBM KLCI itself had risen by 2.78 points to reach 1,526.62, up from Wednesday's closing figure of 1,523.84.
