Melaka: The Federal and Melaka governments allocated a total of RM135.413 million last year to channel aid to recipients in the state under the Melaka Social Welfare Department (JKM). State Women's Affairs, Family Development and Welfare Committee chairman Datuk Kalsom Nordin said the total covered 28,609 recipients eligible for monthly assistance throughout the year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the allocation includes RM16.18 million provided by the Melaka government specifically for the people in the state. This amount supports various forms of assistance such as monthly financial aid, festive contributions, milk aid for the bedridden, and adult diapers, involving 5,210 recipients. The remaining funds come from the Federal Government, covering allowances for workers with disabilities and care for the disabled and chronically ill, as well as support for children and the elderly.
