Federal Development Allocation for Terengganu Set to Increase in 2027

Kemasik:The federal development allocation for Terengganu is expected to rise next year compared to the RM1.8 billion received in 2026, following the presentation of Budget 2027 in Parliament.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Abdul Kahar Abdul Latif, director of the Terengganu Federal Development Department (JPP), mentioned that while complete details of next year's allocation are pending, the government plans to continue various physical and social development projects to cater to the needs of Terengganu's residents. Key areas of focus include education, health, and addressing coastal erosion, along with projects that directly benefit the community.

Datuk Abdul Kahar emphasized that both federal and state governments will ensure that approved projects benefit all Terengganu residents. His remarks came during a press conference at the Terengganu state-level 2026 National Sports Day launch at Mesra Mall, Kemasik.

The newly tabled Budget 2027 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as Finance Minister, amounts to RM510 billion, an increase from RM470 billion in 2026. Of this, RM376.8 billion is designated for operating expenditure, RM83 billion for development, with the remainder supported through investments by government-linked investment companies, public-private partnerships, statutory bodies, and the Minister of Finance Incorporated companies.

Abdul Kahar noted that there will be strengthened cooperation between federal and state agencies to ensure projects run smoothly, particularly those meeting urgent community needs. Priority will be given to projects addressing flood issues and coastal erosion due to Terengganu's coastal nature.

Entering the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13), Terengganu is set to begin the Second Rolling Plan (RP) in 2027. Reflecting on the current year's project performance, Abdul Kahar acknowledged some delays and "sick projects," but emphasized that these represent less than 10 percent of all projects. Continuous engagement sessions, meetings, and site visits are being conducted to resolve these issues and expedite project completion, thereby enhancing public facilities and community well-being.
