Kuala lumpur: The Fees (Pengkalan Kubor Ferry) (Validation) Bill 2025, which aims to validate the collection of ferry service fees between Pengkalan Kubor, Malaysia, and Takbai, Thailand, was tabled for first reading in the Dewan Rakyat today. Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, when tabling the bill, stated that the second and third readings will also be conducted during this session.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the bill seeks to validate the fees which were charged and collected by the Public Works Department and paid into the Consolidated Fund for ferry services between Pengkalan Kubor, Malaysia, and Takbai, Thailand, from January 1, 1999, to December 31, 2024.
The bill also aims to provide that no action or legal proceedings shall be brought or instituted against the Government of Malaysia or any government officer concerning any fees charged and collected during the specified period.
