Kuala Lumpur: There are fewer flood victims in Sabah and Sarawak this evening, with several temporary evacuation centres also closing. In Sabah, the number of evacuees has dropped significantly from 1,651 in the morning to 675 by evening. The Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat noted that areas such as Beaufort, Paitan, and Pitas have fully recovered from the disaster, leaving only two districts still affected. Lahad Datu has the highest number of evacuees at 520, followed by Tongod with 155.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the situation in Sarawak has also shown improvement. The number of flood victims decreased to 10,973 people at 49 centres as of 4 pm, down from 12,116 earlier in the day. The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee Secretariat stated that 14 temporary evacuation centres have been closed as conditions continue to improve.
In the Bintulu division, which includes the Bintulu, Tatau, and Sebauh districts, the number of evacuees has reduced to 5,075 from 5,184. Meanwhile, the Serian division, covering Serian, Siburan, and Balai Ringin districts, recorded 1,847 victims, a decrease from 2,617 earlier. The Samarahan division, which encompasses Samarahan, Asajaya, Sebuyau, Simunjan, and Gedong districts, has reported a reduction in flood victims to 1,487 from 1,926. In the Sibu division, covering Sibu, Selangau, and Kanowit districts, the number of evacuees slightly dipped to 1,187 from 1,189.
The Miri division, including Miri, Subis, and Beluru districts, has 1,288 flood victims, while the Mukah division, covering Mukah and Matu districts, has 89 evacuees. Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued an alert-level continuous rain warning from February 4-5 in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, and Mukah in Sarawak.
