Gerik: A total of 15 victims injured in the crash involving a bus carrying Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students and a Perodua Alza along Jalan Raya Timur-Barat (JRTB) near Tasik Banding, Gerik, yesterday are still being treated in hospital while 18 others have been discharged.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak state health department director Dr Feisul Idzwan Mustapha reported that 10 of the injured are currently receiving treatment at Taiping Hospital, two are at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, and three others, from the family in the Perodua Alza, are in Baling Hospital, Kedah. Dr. Feisul confirmed that those who remain hospitalised are in stable condition. He further mentioned that 18 individuals have been discharged and allowed to return home.
In response to the incident, nine mental health and psychosocial support teams have been deployed to provide support to the crash victims and their families. The crash, which occurred yesterday, resulted in the deaths of 15 UPSI students when the bus they were traveling in overturned. An additional 33 people, including the bus driver and attendant, as well as the driver of the Perodua Alza, sustained injuries in the accident.
