Kuala lumpur: A total of 14 wooden shophouses, including six that were still in operation, were destroyed in a fire at Pekan Simpang Bekoh here today. Jasin Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) operations commander Saiful Nazri Mohd Nor said they received an emergency call at 4.57 pm and immediately dispatched a team to the scene.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, upon arrival, it was confirmed that a fire had occurred involving a row of wooden shops, about 90 percent of which was engulfed, covering an estimated area of 40 by 140 square feet. Firefighting efforts were carried out using two hose lines from the Jasin BBP engine and two hose lines from Jasin Bestari BBP, assisted by water tankers from Ayer Keroh BBP and Bukit Gambir BBP.
Saiful Nazri noted that the six shops still operating included a motorcycle shop, while the remaining units were unoccupied. He added that no casualties were reported and firefighting operations were still ongoing.
