Fire Devastates Two Homes in Balik Pulau

Kuala Lumpur: Two houses on Jalan Kampung Genting in Kampung Genting were destroyed in a fire last night. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) John Sagun Francis stated that they received a distress call at 9.56 pm and promptly dispatched personnel to the site. Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire engulfing two adjacent houses measuring 2,400 and 8,000 square feet, respectively.

In addition to the homes, a quail coop covering 5,250 square feet and a one-tonne lorry parked nearby were also consumed by the flames. The coop was home to approximately 2,000 quails, but the number that survived remains undetermined.

Firefighters worked diligently for nearly half an hour to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring houses. The blaze was fully extinguished by 12.34 am. The cause of the fire and the total losses incurred are currently under investigation.
