Firefighters Battle Hill Forest Blaze Near Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque

Selangor: A hill forest area of about 2.8 hectares near the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque in Section 14 here went up in flames this afternoon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Ashrul Riezal Asbar said they received an emergency call at 1.01 pm and dispatched a team to the scene. Fire tenders from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the location and found about seven acres (2.8 hectares) of hilly forest on fire.

The fire did not involve any nearby building structures, and no casualties or injuries were reported. A statement today confirmed that 10 officers and personnel were involved in the operation, using fire beaters and water pumps to fight the blaze.

As of 8.30 pm, the fire was 60 per cent contained, with operations still ongoing. Firefighters are extinguishing remaining hot spots using water sourced from the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) fire hydrant. They are supported by a water tanker, and efforts include creating fire breaks to prevent the fire from spreading.
