Shah alam: The leave of senior Selangor state government officers, particularly department heads of local government authorities (PBT), has been put on hold until December 15. This decision aims to ensure effective coordination and management in response to potential flood situations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi explained that this measure is intended to guarantee prompt and efficient response to any disaster emergencies. "This ensures that in the event of an emergency, they are present to monitor, assist and mobilise the agencies under them when needed," he stated. He added that if no disaster occurs, officers might be allowed to take leave as usual.

Najwan made these comments while speaking to reporters after inaugurating SELBIZ 2025, an event also attended by PKNS Group chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas and PKNS Entrepreneur Development manager Yuzawati Yusof.

Further elaborating, Mohd Najwan, who also chairs the State Disaster Management Committee, mentioned that despite improving weather conditions, the state government remains vigilant in monitoring the situation. He emphasized the importance of state executive council members visiting relief centres (PPS) to support and comfort flood victims.

He advised those affected by floods to evacuate to the PPS when necessary and to register their names to qualify for financial assistance from the state government and the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

In addition, Mohd Najwan highlighted that Team Selangor and the Selangor Volunteer Force (SERVE) have been activated to conduct cleaning operations in flood-impacted areas. The volunteers are currently focused on cleaning public facilities like mosques, suraus, and community halls. He noted that while volunteers are ready to assist with residents' homes, sensitivities regarding outside help often necessitate prioritizing public spaces first.
