KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in Perak has completely resolved, with the final temporary relief center closing this afternoon. In Johor and Kelantan, the number of flood victims continues to decline as the situation gradually improves.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak has seen a full recovery from the floods in Kampung Chinggong, Muallim district. The last of the 307 evacuees from 59 families, who had been residing at the Dewan Kampung Asli Chinggong relief center since December 31, have been cleared to return to their homes. The State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat confirmed the official closure of the relief center today.
In Johor, the number of evacuees has decreased significantly, with only 27 individuals remaining as of 8 p.m., down from 69 earlier in the day. This reduction follows the closure of the relief center at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Gembut at 11 a.m. Tan Sri Dr. Azmi Rohani, chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee, noted that the Kampung Perpat community center in Kota Tinggi is the sole remaining operational relief facility.
In Kelantan, a slight decrease in the number of evacuees at the SK Gual Tok Deh relief center in Rantau Panjang was recorded, with 36 individuals remaining tonight, down from 38 this morning. The Public Infobanjir portal continues to monitor water levels, reporting that Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang remains at the warning level of 8 meters as of 7:45 p.m.
