Kuala Lumpur: Foreign ministers from Bahrain, Singapore, and Indonesia have arrived in Malaysia to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bahrain's Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani was among the earliest diplomats to arrive, landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 at 8.20 am before proceeding to the Bunga Raya Complex. Singapore's Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan and his spouse arrived at KLIA Terminal 1 at 10.12 am, followed by Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono at 11.34 am.
The 46th ASEAN Summit is scheduled to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on May 26 and 27. It will be held alongside the second ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit. The ASEAN Summit aims to bring together leaders from member states to discuss regional developments and plan the future direction of ASEAN cooperation.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang is expected to attend the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, which highlights the growing collaboration between ASEAN and its partners. This year marks Malaysia's fifth time chairing ASEAN, following its previous terms in 1977, 1997, 2005, and 2015.
