Kuala lumpur: The festive display of the Jalur Gemilang here, a manifestation of Malaysians' pride in celebrating the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2025, has also attracted the attention of foreign tourists. A German software developer, Anna Becker, 36, said that upon arriving in Kuala Lumpur, she was indeed surprised to see so many flags displayed along the roads and on buildings around the capital.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anna Becker expressed her surprise upon witnessing the abundance of flags and learned from locals that Malaysia was preparing to celebrate its National Day. "This atmosphere is indeed unique," she remarked. Meanwhile, James Carter, a bank officer from Melbourne, Australia, expressed his amazement at the sight of the Malaysian national flag adorning the main streets in the capital, adding that it felt like a warm welcome to Kuala Lumpur.
A tourist from South Korea, Seo Yeon, 28, shared her excitement about the vibrant atmosphere in Kuala Lumpur, although she regretted that her vacation would end before she could witness the National Day parade on August 31. She recalled watching a lively video of the parade on social media, complete with marching bands and large crowds.
Engineer Daniel Hughes, 34, from England, noted that the display of the Jalur Gemilang in every corner of Kuala Lumpur would remain a wonderful memory for him. He observed the presence of the Malaysian flag at roadside stalls and even on public transportation. "At night, the Petronas Twin Towers is also illuminated with the colours of the Malaysian flag. I can feel the spirit of Malaysians celebrating the National Day wherever I go," he added.
