Foreigners Suspected Of Using Fake Passport At KLIA 2, Possess Valid Passport – Saifuddin Nasution

Kuala lumpur: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that the foreigners who allegedly used fake passports at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) recently had entered and exited the country legally. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that the tourists, a Bosnian and a Chinese national, possessed valid passports.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, authorities verified the authenticity of the travel documents with the respective embassies. All entry records, including the entry points used by the individuals, were confirmed to be valid. The minister clarified that the checks shown in the viral video were conducted by auxiliary police at the check-in counter, not immigration officers as previously claimed.

Saifuddin Nasution mentioned that investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the foreigners' actions, which he described as serious. He noted the potential connection between the two tourists and did not dismiss the possibility that the incident was intended to create social media content or tarnish the country's image regarding security issues.

The video, which recently went viral, depicted a passport inspection believed to be carried out by airline security personnel at KLIA2. The footage showed a foreigner undergoing several minutes of examination before allegedly being permitted to board the plane.

Last Thursday, Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban announced that his department is working to identify the owner of the involved TikTok account. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of summoning airline staff to assist in the ongoing investigation.
