Forest Fire In Selangor Under Control – Amirudin

Selangor: The forest fire in several areas in Selangor is now under control, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. Amirudin noted that monitoring efforts, particularly in peatland areas, remain crucial due to the heightened risk and difficulty in managing fires in such terrains.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amirudin reported three fire incidents in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Kajang, and Seri Gombak, which were promptly controlled. He emphasized ongoing surveillance in Kuala Kubu Bharu to prevent further issues. He expressed concern about potential fires in peatland areas, as they require extensive operations and prolonged efforts to manage.

Amirudin made these remarks while speaking to reporters after officiating the third Children's Book Festival at the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) Complex. He also mentioned that the state government, in collaboration with the Public Health and Environment Exco Jamaliah Jamaluddin and the State Disaster Management Unit, is actively monitoring the haze situation daily. This includes intensified patrols in hotspots to prevent the recurrence of fires.

Further addressing the Selangor Children's Book Festival 2025, Amirudin highlighted the event as a testament to the state government's dedication to enhancing the book industry ecosystem, particularly in children's literature. The festival aims to provide more opportunities for local publishers, featuring over 160 stalls from book publishers and child-centric agencies, with an anticipated 80,000 visitors attending the four-day event at the PKNS Complex.
