Kuala lumpur: A mother has claimed that her 14-year-old son and another Form Two student were assaulted by five students at a religious school hostel in Bukit Ibam, Rompin, resulting in injuries to various parts of their bodies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Siti Rohani Yusof, 40, reported that the first incident occurred around midnight on September 12. During this incident, the two students were allegedly called into a hostel room, had their heads covered, and were beaten. Her son reportedly endured the assault for about two hours, while his friend suffered for approximately two and a half hours. The victim was afraid to report the incident immediately due to fears of further violence but eventually informed the warden and teachers on the following Tuesday.

Siti Rohani recounted another alleged assault on her son on September 15, involving the same group of students using a broomstick. Her son managed to contact his father, who then informed the warden, prompting Siti Rohani to visit the school the next day. Her son was reportedly kicked, pinched, slapped, and punched, in addition to being hit with a broomstick. Subsequently, he was taken to Muadzam Shah Hospital for a medical examination after a police report was filed at the Muadzam Shah Police Station.

Siti Rohani has urged the police to investigate the hostel management, including the actions of the school and warden in handling the situation. She emphasized the need for a transparent investigation and for relevant authorities to take steps to prevent such incidents from recurring, ensuring the safety and welfare of students in the hostel.

She further claimed that after sharing the incident in the school's boys' hostel (Aspura) parents' group, more students came forward with similar experiences, suggesting that approximately 16 students had been victims of such incidents. Concerned for her son's safety, Siti Rohani has decided to transfer him to another school.

Meanwhile, Rompin police chief Supt Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi confirmed receiving a report regarding the assault involving two Form Two students at the boys' hostel. Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred after the victims were called to a hostel room by five male students, comprising three Form Five students and two Form Four students. The first victim was reportedly targeted for skipping religious lectures, with the second victim being complicit.

Sharif Shai stated that the first victim suffered injuries to both arms, while the second victim sustained injuries to his body. All five suspects were detained and later released on police bail, with the case being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code.
