Negeri sembilan: A four-year-old boy is suspected to have been abused by an elderly woman, who is also his caregiver, at a house in a residential area here yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad stated that police received a report on the incident at 8:01 pm after the victim's parents identified their son through a one-minute and 15-second video that went viral on social media.

The video footage showed a woman beating a young boy at the rear of a house, and the victim in the recording was identified by his parents. Preliminary investigations found that the victim had been sent by his parents to be cared for at a woman's house located not far from their residence about seven months ago.

He said the victim was later taken to Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital for further examination and treatment. Alzafny said police arrested the 60-year-old woman at 9:45 pm on the same day at the location of the incident to assist investigations, and a remand application would be made to enable investigations under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
