Rembau:The upcoming free postal medicine delivery initiative, starting on October 1, aims to simplify medication access for patients and alleviate the burden on families who frequently travel to healthcare facilities for medicine collection.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, teacher Shuhada Musiran, from Negeri Sembilan, highlighted that this service will particularly benefit children managing their parents' medication supplies from afar. The initiative eliminates the need for repeated trips, allowing children to more easily ensure their parents have a continuous supply of necessary medicines.

Shuhada also noted that the initiative would save elderly patients time and effort, as they would no longer need to endure long waits at healthcare facilities for their medications.

Noorhafiza Ramli, a clerk from Johor, shared that a similar postal service has been present in Johor for several years, assisting her in managing her parents' medicine collection. With the new initiative offering the service free of charge, families previously paying RM6 per delivery will see reduced financial burdens.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil announced that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will collaborate with the Health Ministry to implement this service nationwide. The initiative, with a budget of about RM5 million, is expected to serve approximately 80,000 patients monthly.
