Gagasan Rakyat Now Has Nearly 300,000 Members – Hajiji

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) now has close to 300,000 members and is expected to surpass this number ahead of the party’s general assembly in November, said its president Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

In this regard, the Sabah Chief Minister urged all the party’s divisions and branches to continue intensifying efforts to recruit new members.

‘This is important for Gagasan Rakyat to remain strong and relevant,’ he told reporters after the Gagasan Rakyat Supreme Council meeting here today.

Commenting on the meeting, Hajiji said it was held to discuss preparations for the party’s divisional meetings

‘Divisional meetings will begin on Aug 17 and continue until the end of September. We hope these meetings go smoothly and we want all divisions to hold their respective meetings, as we have already conducted the branch-level meetings before,’ he said.

Asked about cooperation with other parties, Hajiji said Gagasan Rakyat will continue to work with parties in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and those that m
ake up the Unity Government.

‘We have many parties in the current government and what we want is to ensure cooperation for the unity of the people and the development of this state. Let’s avoid disputes and work together to develop Sabah,’ he said.

Responding to a question about the possibility of working with UMNO, Hajiji, who is also the GRS chairman, said that in politics, nothing is impossible, and GRS is open to collaborating with anyone to develop Sabah for its people.

In addition to Gagasan Rakyat, GRS includes Parti Bersatu Sabah, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, Sabah Progressive Party, United Sabah National Organisation, Liberal Democratic Party, Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah, and Parti Cinta Sabah.
