Kuala lumpur: The "Malam Himpunan dan Selawat Malaysiaku Bersama Gaza" gathering, part of the Sumud Nusantara Carnival held at Dataran Merdeka, proceeded without any incidents.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus reported that 180 police personnel were deployed to ensure the safety of the event's attendees. He confirmed that no police reports were filed regarding any incidents, and an estimated 20,000 people participated in the event.
The programme saw the attendance of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, marking the culmination of the Sumud Nusantara Carnival 2025. Other notable figures present included Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar and Sumud Nusantara director-general Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman, who also serves as the Cinta Gaza Malaysia (CGM) chief executive officer, were also in attendance.
During his speech, Prime Minister Anwar announced that the MADANI Government had approved an additional RM100 million in humanitarian aid for Gaza, highlighting Malaysia's ongoing commitment to supporting Palestinians amid the current crisis.
