George Russell Looks Forward to Racing at Sepang Despite Hazy Conditions

Kuala Lampur:Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One driver George Russell is optimistic about the upcoming Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit, despite the haze currently affecting Malaysia. He believes that the weather conditions will present the same challenge to all competitors.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Russell remarked that the hot and humid climate typical of Malaysia adds to the excitement and challenge of racing at Sepang. He expressed that these conditions could make the race weekend even more thrilling.

Russell also noted that his debut Formula One race at Sepang would not be entirely foreign to him, as the circuit was his favorite track during his childhood. He frequently raced on it virtually using PlayStation, and he hopes those experiences will be beneficial when racing on the actual track.

Meanwhile, Russell's teammate, Kimi Antonelli, predicts that tyre management will be a significant challenge due to the circuit's ageing and abrasive surface, which is expected to lead to high tyre degradation. He also highlighted Malaysia's unpredictable weather as a potential complication, with rain in the forecast.

Antonelli mentioned that the possibility of heavy rain could pose an extra test for drivers, as they have limited experience with the current cars in wet conditions. He emphasized the importance of being prepared for any situation, as it will be the first time they use wet tyres on this track.
