Gerik Crash: Police Probe Teacher Over Offensive Remarks On Victims

Manjung: Police have launched an investigation into a Facebook account that posted offensive remarks about the deaths of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students in the recent road accident in Gerik. Manjung police chief ACP Hasbullah Abd Rahman reported that a complaint was received at approximately 4.40 pm yesterday. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Facebook account under the name 'Khalid Yunus' was identified as having made the offensive comment regarding the students. The matter is currently under investigation, with authorities examining possible charges under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. In response to the incident, the Perak Education Department has directed a school to compile a comprehensive report concerning one of its teachers, who is alleged to have posted the offensive remarks.
