Kuala Lumpur:Government-linked investment companies (GLICs) are set to invest RM2 billion to strengthen Bumiputera companies, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar, who also serves as the Minister of Finance, explained that entities such as Ekuiti Nasional Bhd (Ekuinas) and Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd (PHB) will assist Bumiputera companies in moving toward public listing and enhancing strategic property ownership.
Furthermore, Anwar highlighted the establishment of the RM250 million Dana Ciptawan by Khazanah Nasional Bhd and the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (TERAJU), aimed at supporting the growth of mid-tier Bumiputera companies.
In addition to these initiatives, the government will invest RM1.5 billion to develop a centralized solar park for government buildings. This project is expected to create opportunities for Bumiputera companies in construction, engineering, and maintenance sectors.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that through the large-scale solar project 6 (LSS6), 150 megawatts are allocated specifically for Bumiputera companies to aid their participation in the clean energy industry.
Moreover, the 10 Bumiputera Champions programme will proceed with a budget of RM40 million to develop 15 promising companies by 2027.
