Global Energy Crisis: KPKT Projects To Continue, Focus On People’s Wellbeing – Nga

Ipoh: Projects under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) will not be postponed despite the global energy crisis, says its minister, Nga Kor Ming. He stated that none of the ministry's projects needed deferral as they prioritize the well-being of the people and are not categorized as large-scale mega projects. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nga emphasized that the majority of KPKT projects are people-centric. He highlighted that there is currently no necessity to postpone any projects, as they are actively being implemented. Specifically, the People's Residency Project (PRR) will continue, reflecting the ministry's focus on community-oriented initiatives rather than billion-dollar mega ventures. Nga shared these insights at a press conference today, following the inauguration of the Greentown Utama Food Court upgrade, which was also attended by KPKT secretary-general Datuk Dr M Noor Azman Taib and Ipoh mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah. In addition, Nga announced the planned groundbreaking ceremon y for the RM150 million Tambun PRR project, scheduled for June. This development aims to set a new standard for quality affordable housing. The project will include facilities such as a central park and a recreational lake. Nga has requested the mayor's assistance in expediting the approval of building plans to ensure the project meets expectations for modern facilities and serves as a benchmark for affordable housing quality. Last year, it was announced that the first PRR project in Perak would be developed in Tambun, with an estimated cost of RM150 million.
