Gobind Vows To Strengthen DAP’s Foundation And Direction

Shah Alam: Newly appointed DAP National Chairman Gobind Singh Deo has vowed to prioritise efforts to strengthen the party's foundation and direction. In a Facebook post, Gobind, 52, expressed his gratitude and readiness to serve in the new role, stating: "Honoured to lead, ready to serve." According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gobind stated, "I am truly humbled to be appointed as DAP's new National Chairman by my fellow Central Executive Committee (CEC) members. Let us continue working hard to deliver what the people expect from us. Let's move forward, together." Gobind, who is also the Digital Minister, secured the highest number of votes in DAP's CEC elections, held in conjunction with the party's 18th National Congress at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), Shah Alam. A total of 4,203 party delegates from 1,650 branches attended the one-day congress to vote for 30 CEC members for the 2025-2028 term. Following his victory, Gobind was officially named DAP National Chairman, succeeding Lim Guan Eng, who was app ointed DAP Advisor. Seremban MP Anthony Loke, who is also the Transport Minister, retained his position as DAP Secretary-General for a second term. Meanwhile, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming was appointed Deputy Chairman. The newly elected National Vice Chairmen include Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, Selangor DAP Chairman Ng Suee Lim, Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan, and Nilai MP J. Arul Kumar. Additionally, the following leaders were appointed Deputy Secretaries-General: Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, and Ramkarpal Singh.
