GOF Arrests Two Smugglers, Seizes 100 Boer Goats

Gerik: The General Operations Force (GOF) arrested two smugglers and foiled an attempt to smuggle in 100 Boer goats from Thailand in a joint operation in Gerik yesterday. Ulu Kinta GOF North Brigade commander SAC Shahrum Hashim revealed that the operation, which took place from 4:30 pm to 5:00 am, resulted in the apprehension of two men aged 28 and 41.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation team had been monitoring the sale of smuggled livestock from Thailand in local markets over the last three months. During the operation, they discovered an Isuzu lorry transporting goats from Thailand, suspected to be en route to a pen where the goats would be sold to an individual.

The operation led to the seizure of approximately 100 Boer goats and the Isuzu lorry, with a combined estimated value of RM260,000. The suspects, along with the seized items, were handed over to the Taiping Veterinary Department for further investigation under Section 36(1) of the Animals Act 1953.
