Ulu kinta: The Ulu Kinta General Operations Force (GOF) seized 33,500 kilogrammes (kg) of white Thai rice worth around RM400,000 being smuggled in a trailer lorry in Gerik yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, GOF Northern Brigade commander, SAC Shahrum Hashim, stated that a 44-year-old man was arrested during the operation that took place between 3.15 pm and 5.45 pm.

The operation team intercepted a trailer lorry carrying 670 gunny sacks of white Thai rice, each weighing 50 kg, as it was en route to a rice warehouse in Perak.

The incident is currently under investigation under Section 7(2) of the Control of Paddy and Rice Act 1994.
