Gold Futures Rally Ahead of US NFP Data Release

Kuala lumpur: Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives continued to rally ahead of the release of the United States' July non-farm payrolls (NFP) data later today, which will influence the Federal Reserve rate increase expectations for September, analysts said.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, at the close, the spot-month August 2026 contract rose to US$4,322.90 per troy ounce from US$4,298.90 on Thursday, while September 2026 ticked up to US$4,335.80 from US$4,312.80 previously.

The October 2026, November 2026, and December 2026 contracts all increased to US$4,349.20 per troy ounce from US$4,326.20 yesterday. Trading volume grew to 404 lots from 286 lots on Thursday, while open interest expanded to 477 contracts from 366 contracts previously.

Physical gold was fixed at US$4,267.85 per troy ounce at the London Bullion Market Association's afternoon fix on Aug 6, 2026.
