Kuala lumpur: Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended higher amid increased demand for safe-haven assets, tracking the strong performance of gold futures on the US Commodity Exchange (COMEX).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, at the close, the spot-month July 2026 contract rose to US$4,065.60 per troy ounce from US$4,031.80 per troy ounce on Wednesday. The August 2026 contract increased to US$4,084.30 per troy ounce from US$4,051.40 per troy ounce, while the September 2026 contract gained to US$4,096.40 per troy ounce from US$4,063.50 per troy ounce.
The October 2026 and December 2026 contracts also saw a rise, both settling at US$4,126.90 per troy ounce compared to US$4,094.00 per troy ounce previously.
Trading volume climbed significantly to 234 lots from 119 lots yesterday, while open interest jumped to 304 contracts from 201 contracts previously, indicating increased market activity.
Physical gold was fixed at US$4,000.85 per troy ounce at the London Bullion Market Association's afternoon fix on July 29, 2026.
