Government Announces Scholarships for Palestinian Students in Network and Radio Engineering

Kuala lumpur: The government, through the Ministry of Communications, will offer educational scholarships in the fields of network and radio network engineering to five Palestinians to pursue their studies in this country. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil stated that the initiative prioritizes young individuals from Gaza, Ramallah, the West Bank, Nablus, or other regions in Palestine interested in these fields.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initiative by the Ministry of Communications and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) aims to contribute to the reconstruction of Gaza and foster the development of Palestine. Fahmi emphasized that education in communication and technology is a long-term investment for a more inclusive reconstruction of Palestine's domestic communication infrastructure.

Fahmi shared these details during a press conference following the launch of the Redly Pos Malaysia International event, held in conjunction with the 2025 World Post Day celebration at the National Mail Centre. He mentioned that preliminary discussions have been held with the Palestinian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to assess the entry requirements and implementation of the initiative.

When queried about the timeline for the initiative's implementation, Fahmi explained that they are awaiting further feedback, noting that admission processes depend on academic schedules or study semesters. He also mentioned that the Palestinian embassy proposed the development of online education classes for Palestinian students, similar to Malaysia's National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI).

Fahmi elaborated that this suggestion is under consideration, and his ministry will collaborate with other parties to provide online classes for children in Gaza and other Palestinian territories. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that, even without physical schools, students with devices and internet access can continue their education.

This scholarship initiative represents Malaysia's contribution to the reconstruction of Gaza and the development of a more prosperous Palestine through education and communication technology. Fahmi had previously noted that the opportunity for further studies aims to assist the Palestinian people in rebuilding communication networks destroyed by the Zionist Israeli regime's bombardment, particularly in the Gaza region.
