Bedong: The federal government has sanctioned an extra RM1 million allocation for AIMST University, aimed at ensuring continuous educational support for students hailing from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that this additional funding would complement the annual grant provided to the private university. "The MADANI Government will ensure that the poorest students at this university continue to receive guaranteed assistance. Therefore, I am adding RM1 million specifically for that purpose," he stated during the annual government grant presentation ceremony for AIMST University. The event took place in Bedong, with the presence of Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and MIC President Tan Sri Dr SA Vigneswaran, who also serves as AIMST University chancellor and chairman.

At the ceremony, AIMST University was granted an annual fund of RM25 million. Anwar, who also holds the position of Finance Minister, highlighted that despite various global challenges, Malaysia's economic growth remains robust. He noted that the national unemployment rate is at its lowest level, and investment performance has reached an unprecedented high in the country's history.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of education as a tool for elevating the dignity of the populace and securing a better future. Consequently, he affirmed that the government consistently prioritizes education, allocating the highest budgetary provisions to it each year.
