Government Considers Additional Financial Aid for University Students

Kuala lumpur: The government is ready to consider a one-off additional RM100 aid for university students to help them cope with the rising cost of living, announced Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The initiative is intended to provide financial relief to students facing economic challenges.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that this proposal would be given due consideration in the upcoming Budget 2026, which is set to be tabled in October. The consideration of this additional aid emerged following a suggestion by a student representative from Multimedia University during the Temu Anwar programme.

Anwar highlighted that the government had previously approved RM100 cash aid for every Malaysian aged 18 and above. The Prime Minister expressed his openness to the proposal, saying, "I welcome the proposal by the student president and I will give it due consideration for the October budget." This statement underscores the government's willingness to address the financial difficulties faced by university students.
