Kuala lumpur: The government has reiterated its unwavering stance against any form of insult to Islam, particularly those involving the desecration of the Quran. Senior press secretary to the Prime Minister, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, emphasized the government's serious view on the spread of malicious slander, baseless accusations, and false information circulated by irresponsible parties.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tunku Nashrul highlighted that these actions are aimed at tarnishing the government's efforts and disrupting public order by conflating different issues. He specifically addressed the issue of Quran desecration involving a university student, noting that the MADANI Government took immediate action. The student was arrested by the police on February 25, a day after the incident became public, and was charged in court today. This update was shared during the Prime Minister's Office daily briefing, streamed live on Anwar Ibrahim's and PMO Malaysia's Facebook pages.
Tunku Nashrul further stated that the country is governed by the rule of law, as emphasized by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He stressed that true justice requires a transparent legal process, rather than punishment without due consideration. He urged the public to rely on authentic sources before sharing information, avoid spreading unfounded allegations on social media, and allow the legal process to run its course fairly.
He concluded by advising against exploiting the sanctity of religion for partisan political interests and reaffirmed the MADANI Government's commitment to strengthening national prosperity and supporting Muslims during their fasting period.
