Government to Investigate Royal Commission Findings on Tabung Haji: Anwar

Kuala lumpur: The government has announced its commitment to thoroughly investigate the findings and recommendations outlined in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), following a decree from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim shared this development in a Facebook post, aligning the move with the MADANI Government's dedication to a comprehensive examination of the report.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed gratitude to His Majesty for the opportunity to discuss several critical matters related to national interests and public welfare. Emphasizing the MADANI Government's resolve, Anwar stated that the King's directive underscored their commitment to investigating the RCI report's findings and recommendations without compromise.

During his audience with Sultan Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Tunku, Anwar highlighted the significance of TH as a trust institution that manages the savings of millions of Malaysians. These savings, accumulated by individuals including farmers, civil servants, and lower-income earners, are primarily intended for the haj pilgrimage. Anwar, also serving as the Finance Minister, stressed the importance of safeguarding this trust and ensuring accountability for any misuse.

The RCI report, released on July 29, identified various administrative and operational weaknesses within TH between 2014 and 2020. Anwar also informed the King about ongoing investigations into the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), noting the government's review of a special task force report to determine appropriate legal actions.

The Prime Minister reiterated the MADANI Government's unwavering stance on good governance, transparency, and accountability, emphasizing that those betraying public trust would face firm repercussions irrespective of their status. He further outlined the government's strategy to bolster security at national entry points, focusing on effective enforcement, surveillance, and inter-agency collaboration to address cross-border crime and maintain national security.

Anwar concluded by reaffirming the government's commitment to His Majesty's decree, aiming to enhance governance, enforcement, and national security while prioritizing the welfare of the people.
