Putrajaya: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasized that the government maintains a non-interference stance concerning the operations of enforcement agencies. He stated that the efforts undertaken by these bodies are aimed at promoting good governance under his leadership.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar clarified that neither he nor his Cabinet members intervene in the duties performed by enforcement bodies such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). He reiterated that these agencies have the autonomy to execute their tasks without government interference.
Anwar addressed allegations of personal vendettas or witch hunts, asserting that his administration allows enforcement agencies full freedom to operate. "The police are free to do their work, LHDN to collect taxes, and MACC to conduct raids to put an end to corruption," he said. He highlighted the importance of leaders focusing on national welfare rather than personal wealth accumulation.
The Prime Minister made these remarks during the launch of the newly revamped Alamanda shopping mall. The event was attended by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr. Zaliha Mustafa and Putrajaya Holdings Chief Executive Officer Datuk Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim.
Anwar reiterated the necessity for robust action by enforcement agencies to combat unethical practices, including corruption. He stressed that such measures are crucial to maintaining integrity within the country.
Looking ahead to Ramadan, which is expected to commence early next month, Anwar reflected on the spiritual significance of the holy month. He encouraged Muslims to enhance their spirituality and recognize the social aspects of society, emphasizing the importance of understanding the hardships faced by others in the community.
